Welcome to Upper Key Stage 2

‘Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today’

In Year 5, We believe our school will nurture all individuals in their journey to achieve their full and unique potential. We are committed to developing a welcoming, safe and stimulating learning environment that will enable our pupils to become responsible citizens and lifelong learners. We are aware that our pupils bring different experiences, interests and strengths, which will influence the way they learn and develop their independence.
We provide opportunities within a broad and balanced curriculum so that each child is happy, can achieve success and fulfil his or her potential. We work cohesively to develop individuals socially, emotionally, spiritually, physically and creatively. In year 5, we foster independence, and enable our pupils to become responsible citizens and lifelong learners.
We also work alongside parents and others to meet their needs to help support every child to reach their full potential. With these intentions in mind, we are fully committed to the aims outlined in the Year 5 as stated above.

“The roots of education are bitter, but the fruit is sweet.”
Aristotle

In Year 6, our curriculum is much more than what the National Curriculum says that we have to teach. We use the National Curriculum as a basis and we develop and enhance it to meet our own children's needs. We define our curriculum as everything that we plan, implement and encourage during the course of our involvement with pupils that impacts upon their learning and development. We ensure our school has a distinct identity and reflects our values and ethos.

It is our goal to provide a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum that meets the needs and ability of each individual child. There is a high emphasis on basic skills from the moment that children join Year 6 and this ensures that they achieve well. We strive to rice rich experiences for all of our pupils, laying the foundations for success in life. We work tirelessly to enrich it, injecting varied and rich learning experiences that develop our children academically, personally and socially. In Year 6, we engage our children, capture their passion and enthusiasm and promote a lifelong love of learning.
Our pupils are taught in many different ways but all teaching and learning is of a high quality and is planned to ensure that pupils are supported and challenged. We respond quickly when children experience difficulties and offer a range of curriculum interventions aimed at addressing every child's unique needs.
